Construction of the Jelični vrh gallery (Zala) and full road closures between Godovič and Idrija

The Slovenian Infrastructure Agency signed an agreement on 4 March 2019 for the construction of a gallery on the road section between Spodnja Idrija and Godovič in Zala (Jelični vrh). Construction works with a value of EUR 2,982,397.88 shall be performed by the company Kolektor CPG d.o.o. Due to the narrowness of the area, part and full closures of state roads will be necessary during the works.

In 2019, the following activities are planned for the first construction season:
The removal of part of the embankment is planned in order to obtain a suitable width for the gallery, for piling and for the foundation. The following linking patches will be carried out for the gallery, as well as for the rear wall of the gallery.

CLOSURES IN 2019

There will be a PARTIAL ROAD CLOSURE from 21 May 2019 to approx. 29 December 2019, with an alternative one-way traffic arrangement.

In the interim period, there will be a FULL ROAD CLOSURE between 29 July 2019 and 1 September 2019.

There will be occasional short-term full road closures of up to 30 minutes outside these dates for carrying out the necessary manipulations at the construction area, which will be done outside peak hours.

At the end of the first construction season, another two-day full road closure is planned to return the arrangement of the carriageway to two-way. The carriageway will be ready for the establishment of two-way traffic before winter. No activities or road closures are planned for the winter.

The legend of the signs of detour:
- for vehicles over 7,5 ton - blue line;
- for vehicles to 7,5 ton - red line;
- internal relation  - orange line.

In 2020, the following activities are planned for the second construction season:
The construction is planned to take place between 28 March 2020 and 27 September 2020

CLOSURES IN 2020

FULL ROAD CLOSURES
- 2 x 5 days (planned approx. from 11 April 2020 to 15 April 2020, and from 4 July 2020 to 8 July 2020)
- 2 x 2 days (planned approx. from 20 June 2020 to 21 June 2020, and from 5 September 2020 to 6 September 2020)
- 1 day (planned for 27 September 2020).
During these dates, installation and dismantling works will be carried out for the sidings of the ceiling plate. The last planned full road closure with a duration of one day will be intended for the placement of the final layer of asphalt on the road.

In the remaining construction period, the construction works will be carried out with a partial road closure with a one-way alternative traffic arrangement. 

THE FOLLOWING DETOURS ARE PLANNED DURING THE FULL ROAD CLOSURES:

Detours will run on the following state roads:
- for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes in total, the detour will run through Logatec - Nova Gorica - Tolmin - Idrija,
- for vehicles of up to 7.5 tonnes in total, detour will run through Logatec - Žiri - Govejk - Marof - Spodnja Idrija.
As was the case in last year's full road closure, an internal special traffic arrangement is planned:
•    Trailers and semi-trailers will be able to drive in the direction of Trebija - Sovodenj - Cerkno - Želin from 10:00 to 12 noon, while traffic will be prohibited in the opposite direction for all vehicles over 7.5 tonnes in total, as well as for buses (50 seaters), from 09:30 to 12:30.
•    Trailers and semi-trailers will be able to drive in the direction of Želin - Cerkno - Sovodenj - Trebija from 16:00 to 18:00, traffic will be prohibited in the opposite direction for all vehicles over 7.5 tonnes in total, as well as for buses (50 seaters), from 15:30 to 18:30.

We advise passenger car drivers to use other roads during the aforementioned dates.

We urge all users to follow the traffic information available in the framework of the Traffic Information Centre for state roads (www.promet.si, phone 1970). The road operator will communicate all planned changes to the traffic arrangement to the Traffic Information Centre for state roads, which also publishes and monitors information on road conditions submitted by the police, the maintenance services and other entities 24 hours per day, thus the platform always has the latest available information on road and traffic conditions.
