Traffic before and during the First May holidays

Thursday, April 22, 2010 9:29:55 AM

On Friday, 23 April, and Saturday, 24 April, the increase of traffic is expected in the direction towards tourist sites, in particular from Ljubljana towards Gorenjska and Primorska, due to school holidays. Traffic will be increased more than usual also at border crossing points with Croatia; according to experiences, mostly at Dragonja border crossing point.
Traffic jams are expected at the motorway sections, where work is in progress, in particular on the Štajerska motorway between Celje and Slovenske Konjice; and where traffic is redirected from two driving lanes to a single one (the end of the Dolenjska motorway at Trebnje and narrowing of the Gorenjska motorway at Podtabor or Peračica, respectively).

New traffic congestion on the abovementioned roads is expected before the First May holidays, on Friday, 30 April.

On Tuesday, 27 April, and Sunday, 2 May, traffic will be increased in the opposite direction, from Primorska and Gorenjska towards Ljubljana.
On those days, traffic jams are expected at border crossing points with Croatia for entering Slovenia. In particular, at Dragonja, Sečovlje and Gruškovje border crossing points.

The most burdened directions:
the motorway between Ljubljana and Koper,
the road from Karavanke towards Ljubljana and from Ljubljana towards border crossing points with Croatia, and
the road from Šentilj towards Gruškovje border crossing point.

On Thursday, 29 April, increased goods transport is expected, in particular from Hungary towards Italy due to traffic restrictions in Italy on 30 April.

In Slovenia, driving restrictions on the goods vehicles exceeding 7.5 tons apply on:

- 25 April between 8:00 and 21:00
- 27 April between 8:00 and 21:00
- 1 May between 8:00 and 21:00
- 2 May between 8:00 and 21:00
