Traffic Forecast for the period until the beginning of Januar 2017

In the time before Christmas and New Years Eve, there are usually local traffic congestions due to different events and shopping activities. The traffic will also be increased in the tourist areas.
As the holidays are about to start in the majority of Europe, we anticipate an increase in traffic towards Austria and Croatia on 23rd
and 24th December, and from Austria and Croatia on 1st and 2nd January.

Waiting time is to be expected mainly at Obrežje and Gruškovje border crossings as well as before the Karavanke tunnel.

During the holidays, freight traffic restrictions for vehicles over 7.5 t are in force in most European countries: 

SLOVENIA: 

  • Sunday, 25th December: from 8 am to 9 pm; Monday, 26th December: from 8 am to 9 pm;
  • Sunday and Monday, 1st and 2nd January 2017 from 8 am to 9 pm.

 CROATIA:   

Vehicles over 7.5 t are prohibited on public roads:  

  • Friday, 23rd December: from 3 pm to 11 pm, Saturday, 24th December: from 3 pm to 11 pm;

  • Monday, 26th December: from 2 pm to 11 pm;

  • Sunday, 1st January 2017: from 3 pm to 11 pm.  

    Prohibition is in place on important public roads: D8 (Adriatic Highway), D9 (Metković-Opuzen), D21 (Kaštel-Kanfanar), D66 (Pula-Labin-Opatija), D23 (Žuta-Lokva-Senj), however, the prohibition is not applicable on the highway and D1 public road.

    AUSTRIA:
  • Saturday, 24th December: from 3 pm to 12 pm;

  • Sunday, 25th December: from 00.00 am to 10 pm;
  • Monday, 26th December: from 00.00 am to 10 pm;
  • Sunday, 1st January 2017: from 00.00 am to 10 pm.

 ITALY:  

  • Sunday and Monday, 25st and 26th December: from 9 am to 10 pm.
  • Sunday, 1st January 2017: from 9 am to 10 pm. 

     HUNGARY:
  • From Saturday, 24th December, from 10 pm to Monday, 26th December to 10 pm.

  • Saturday, 31st December, from 10 pm to Sunday 1st January 2017, to 10 pm.

Until the end of the year, the weather will be dry and foggy with low cloudiness mainly in the lowlands. Colder days are to be expected.
