Traffic forecast until 4th September

Friday, August 28, 2015 12:20:00 PM

The greater increase in traffic is expected especially on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, but traffic will increase already on Friday, mainly from Ljubljana's ring road towards the coast, as well as on Monday, when foreign vehicles will join the existing morning and afternoon rush hour.
The start of the new school year is approaching, therefore drivers should be especially careful in the areas of schools and kindergartens as well as before pedestrian crossings and near bus stops.

Due to the fair in Gornja Radgona and its surroundings, an increase in traffic is expected until the 27th of August.

Due to the Strategic Forum in Bled between 31st August and 1st September 2015, drivers can expect occasional increases in traffic in the area of the Jože Pučnik Airport, on the route Brnik - Podtabor - Bled, and due to the participants in Bled and its surroundings. The majority of traffic and emergency vehicles are expected mainly on the route Brnik - Podtabor - Bled. Drivers are informed that in case of escorted transports, they are obliged to stop and withdraw from the carriageway while allowing the considered vehicles to drive on smoothly.

EXTENSIVE WORKS ON MOTORWAYS

A2, DOLENJSKA MOTORWAY
Due to the reconstruction of approximately six kilometres of the carriageway, the traffic on the section between the connections Višnja Gora and Ivančna Gorica runs only along half of the motorway, on three narrowed lanes. During the morning rush hour, there are two lanes in the direction of Ljubljana and one in the direction of Novo mesto; later on, the road-block is moved to two lanes in the direction of Novo mesto and one in the direction of Zagreb. At the connection of Višnja Gora, in the direction of Novo mesto, the entrance to the motorway is closed, while the detour runs via the connection of Ivančna Gorica. The works will be completed by 11th October.

A1, ŠTAJERSKA MOTORWAY
Due to works on the road, on Sunday morning, 30th August, on the Štajerska motorway, the lane after the connection Celje – east in the direction of Maribor, will be closed.

Due to damage to the road between Ljubljana and Krtina, there are planned urgent repairs and closures of individual lanes.

Once the most favourable terms are set, the information on this will be available on promet.si.

On the section between connections Dramlje and Celje – centre, due to the construction of noise barriers, the traffic runs for approximately nine kilometres on two narrowed lanes in both directions; in the direction of Ljubljana, one lane runs on the opposite side of the motorway. The works will continue until the end of September.

A2, GORENJSKA MOTORWAY
Due to maintenance work (restoration of electronic equipment in the power station), the Karavanke tunnel will be closed to all traffic during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday (1st/2nd September) and from Wednesday to Thursday (2nd/3rd September) between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m.

During the Karavanke tunnel road-block, the detour for trucks will run on the motorway via Udine (I) or Graz (A); for passenger cars, the detour will be possible over Wurzenpass, Loiblpass (A); for caravans and motorhomes, we recommend the border crossing Rateče (direction Jesenice - Kranjska Gora Trbiž).

INSTRUCTIONS

Driving at insufficient safety distance represents statistically one of the most common causes of traffic accidents. Usually, this cause is also linked to speeding. Between 17th and 23rd August, within the context of a Pan-European police campaign for controlling speed, police officers registered 1,696 speeding cases. The major part of speeding was determined in settlements, while police officers also registered 270 cases on motorways. We urge all road users to strictly comply with road traffic regulations.

In case of congestion on the motorway, consider the appropriate positioning of vehicles.
