Traffic forecast until beginning of September

Friday, August 25, 2017 5:15:00 AM

Increased traffic is expected at the beginning of the school year, particularly near shopping centres and school routes.

Please be careful and watch your speed in school and kindergarten areas, near bus stops, etc.

Drivers can expect increased traffic during the morning and afternoon rush hours, particularly between 6 AM and 8 AM, as well as between 3 PM and 5 PM during weekdays.

Despite the summer holidays ending in some European countries, there are still many tourists on the road. At the end of the week, increased traffic is expected towards the Slovenian and Croatian coast. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be increased traffic in the other direction. The Istrian border crossings to the Republic of Croatia will be busy, as well as the Gruškovje border crossing. Congestion is expected before the Karavanke tunnel towards Austria, which can become even greater due to the checks carried out by Austrian border authorities.

The limitation of cargo traffic and other vehicle groups with a maximum authorised total weight exceeding 7.5 tonnes is set to change on 3 September. More here.

Expected Works

Maintenance works between Unec and Postojna will continue to be carried out according to the plan. The traffic is running on two narrowed lanes in both directions. More here.

The traffic between Ajdovščina and Vogrsko on H4, Nova Gorica – Razdrto, is running on half of the expressway in both directions.

The R1-215 Mokronog – Boštanj road is expected to be closed at Spodnje Vodale until the end of August 2017. Cargo traffic should take the Tržišče – Mokronog –Trebnje road, the Trebnje – Drnovo highway and the Krško – Sevnica main road detours.

Guidelines

Following the trend of traffic growth on highways and expressways (by 5% per year on average), particularly the growth of cargo traffic (depending on the road section; the cargo traffic on the eastern bypass has increased by 25%), the roadways need to be maintained on a more regular basis. Road maintenance works are necessary if we want to keep our roadways safe. We cordially ask all road users to remain patient at road blocks in order to keep traffic safe and flowing.

Be visible! Be safe!

We recommend using reflectors and visible neckerchiefs for better visibility, as well as safety belts for transporting children. Children should be familiar with how to correctly cross the street.   Povezana slika
