Traffic Forecast until the beginning of Septemer 2016

Friday, August 26, 2016 1:36:13 PM

September is almost here. Most of the holidays throughout Europe are coming to an end and so are the peak periods at weekends. During the week, daily peak hours are higher in the morning and afternoon (between 6 am and 8 am and between 3 pm and 5 pm); traffic is also intensified on the city's arterial roads and ring roads.

Attention is drawn to the beginning of the school year and the increased traffic around schools, kindergartens and shopping centres.

Let us not forget the tourists returning from the Croatian and Slovenian coast - over the weekend, increased traffic is expected in the opposite direction, at border crossing points with Croatia. There will also be heavy traffic congestion at the Karavanke tunnel towards Austria, due to the controls of the Austrian border authority.

EXPECTED WORKS

A2 - GORENJSKA MOTORWAY

Renovation works are being performed along 6.2 kilometres of the A2 motorway between Kranj and Brnik, which will take place until mid-September. Traffic runs on two narrow lanes on both sides. A detour is arranged via Brnik junction. The Kranj-vzhod junction will be closed in the direction of Jesenice until the end of August. More information is provided on the following link.

H3 - NORTH LJUBLJANA BYPASS

Extensive renovation works are being performed on the H3 north Ljubljana bypass. Traffic between Tomačevo and Celovška road is running both ways on two narrow lanes. The Šiška industrial zone exit point (Litostrojska road) and the Lj. - Savlje entry point towards Štajerska and Dolenjska will be closed until the end of August.

Freight vehicle traffic above 7.5t between Štajerska and the Primorska region and vice versa is being redirected onto the eastern and southern Ljubljana bypass.

A1 – ŠTAJERSKA MOTORWAY

There are restoration works being performed on the Arja vas (Žalec)–Šempeter section, presumably until 7 October. Traffic will run on the other carriageway, on two (narrowed) lanes in both directions. The Žalec entry point will be closed in the direction of Ljubljana until mid-October.

H2 – HIGHWAY THROUGH MARIBOR

Planned restoration works on electrical hardware are being performed in the Maribor tunnel. Presumably until Saturday, 27 August, both carriageways (in the direction of Ljubljana and Šentilj) will be completely closed due to works on the propulsion switchboard and testing of the system. Due to the closure of the H2 in the direction of Ljubljana / Zagreb, a detour is arranged via Maribor - center junction (Meljska road) that runs along Meljska road - Partizanska road - Titova road - Tržaška road. Due to the closure of the H2 in the direction of Šentilj / Austria, a detour is arranged via Maribor - Pobrežje junction (Zrkovska) that runs along Kosovel street - Istrian street - Puhova street - A1, MB - vzhod junction (Zrkovska). The entry point from Osojnikova road onto the highway or junction MC 244112 (Maribor-Vurberk-Ptuj) is closed.
